Property firm Bruntwood will be the headline sponsor of this year’s Liverpool Literary Festival, taking place later this month.

The three-day showcase, organised by the University of Liverpool, begins on Friday, October 19, and features speakers including writer and broadcaster Tony Robinson, crime author Val McDermid and Sally Rooney, who was recently named in the 2018 Man Booker Prixe longlist.

There is a packed schedule of talks, workshops and debates taking place across the weekend, covering everything from fiction and radio drama to memoirs and music. A number of family-focused events are also featured on Sunday, including an appearance by festival favourite Frank Cottrell-Boyce.

Bruntwood owns a number of high-profile office buildings in the Liverpool city region and is a regular supporter of local arts organisations and cultural events, including the Everyman Theatre, Sound City+ and Liverpool Biennial.

Colin Forshaw, regional director at Bruntwood, said: “Liverpool Literary Festival is the ultimate showcase of the city’s cultural heartbeat – it is promoting discussion and has something for everyone, no matter what their tastes, knowledge or interests.

Supporting our cultural community has always been central to Bruntwood’s approach and we are proud and excited to be taking part in this year’s festival. A vibrant cultural landscape is a vital ingredient in Liverpool’s success and as a company we want to play our part by partnering with ambitious cultural organisations that are looking to make an impact and inspire change.”

Liverpool Literary Festival director, Helen Taylor, added: “Bruntwood’s sponsorship is a real testament of faith in the city and this major cultural event.”
