Business big hitters from the maritime, manufacturing and academic sectors have joined the board of of the Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership (LEP).
Maritime heavyweights, Cammell Laird chief executive John Syvret and Peel Ports chief executive Mark Whitworth are among seven new appointees.
They join Prof Janet Beer, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Liverpool; Dr. Jon Hague, Vice President Open Innovation, Unilever R&D; Laura O’Brien, VP & site head at Seqirus; Angela White, chief executive of Sefton CVS; and Paul Corcoran, managing director of Agent Marketing.
They will join the push to help drive forward the City Region’s economic growth over the next three years.
LEP chair Asif Hamid said: “All seven new board members are leaders in their fields and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the LEP directly related to the LEP’s priorities.
“These appointments add to the outstanding board members we already have in place and ensure we have an effective and diverse leadership that supports our continued work to drive economic growth.”
The LEP Board provides strategic insight and guidance to the Liverpool City region Combined Authority on economic challenges and opportunities.
Professor Beer added: “The university’s success is linked to the Liverpool city region and we make a significant economic and social contribution through our students, staff and investment in infrastructure.”
