A Liverpool manufacturer and supplier of specialist equipment and systems to the global pharmaceutical industry is reporting a healthy rise in sales and profits.

Based in Speke in the south of the city, ChargePoint Technology provides equipment and systems that enable the safe handling and transferring of powders in pharmaceutical, biopharmaceutical, and chemical manufacturing.

It focuses on ‘smart powder handling’ that ensures sterility, operator safety, and containment—especially for highly potent drugs, vaccines, and other sensitive materials where contamination could pose a serious risk.

ChargePoint employs around 130 people and also has operations in New Jersey and Boston in the US. It has posted its accounts for the 12 months to December 31, 2024, and they show what the company described as a “strong trading performance”.

Revenues for the years were more than 13% higher at £26.9m while there was also an almost 9% uplift in pre-tax profits to £8.6m.

In the report the directors said: “The revenue growth for the company and the cash generation facilitated significant investment in the year, in line with the company’s growth strategy.

In the past couple of years ChargePoint has built a new production facility adjacent to its Liverpool headquarters and has invested £3m in a fit-out. It includes a large high-tech clean room and environmentally-controlled storage.

In April 2024 a new entity, ChargePoint UK Private was incorporated in India. The report added: “This is an exciting opportunity for the group given the significant growth potential within the Indian market and expansion in this region is a key initiative for the group.”

In conclusion, the directors said: “We continue to invest in people and our ChargePoint team grew significantly by 13% in 2024 with roles spanning all areas of the business, to support the future growth trajectory of the company.”
