Coffee shop brand Coffee King is continuing its expansion with the opening of its second Liverpool outlet and its fourth in the city region. Tony McDonough reports

Coffee King will open a new coffee shop in Liverpool on Tuesday, September 1, its fourth in the city region.

In April Coffee King opened an outlet in Lord Street in Southport. This added to existing venues in Liverpool ONE and West Kirby in Wirral. Its latest venture will be located in Myrtle Street in the heart of Liverpool’s Georgian Quarter.

This is close to Liverpool’s two universities, student accommodation, Hope Street and the Liverpool Philharmonic Hall. On offer is specialty coffee, signature savoury croissants and a range of freshly baked cakes, alongside free wifi.

To support Liverpool’s large student community, Coffee King will also introduce exclusive student offers and discounts throughout the academic year.

To celebrate the opening at 12 noon, the first 50 customers through the door on launch day will receive a free barista-made drink, with additional discounts available throughout the day.

Chief executive and founder of Coffee King, Sean Le Tissier said: “The Georgian Quarter has a fantastic atmosphere, with its mix of culture, history and student life, and being so close to the Philharmonic and the city’s universities makes it the perfect place for us.

“We wanted to create a space where people can study, work, meet friends and enjoy great coffee at an affordable price. We’re looking forward to becoming part of the local community and welcoming customers through our doors.”

Coffee King also has a coffee shop in Halifax and has plans to open another outlet in Warrington.

On Sunday, August 23, Coffee King was a Gold Partner August and used that tier to make Clatterbridge Cancer Charity the event’s official charity. Staff rode the 47-mile route.

Separately, the team has raised £10,983 for Clatterbridge across two challenges – £880 abseiling down The Clatterbridge Cancer Centre in Liverpool, and £10,103 on the Mount Toubkal trek in Morocco, where six signed up at a £2,500 minimum each.
