Today, March 18 the venue’s popular ‘Downstairs’ bar will be serving an assortment of afternoon tea themed specialty drinks, ideal for those who prefer cocktails over cake.

Traditional afternoon tea usually consists of a pot of tea, along with finger sandwiches, scones and a selection of cakes and pastries – however Delifonseca’s ‘liquid lunch’ will feature ‘all of the favourite flavours in drink form’.

Proprietor Candice Fonseca said:

“As part of our Worldwide Afternoon Tea celebrations, we thought we’d be a little different and devise a quirky menu that combines tea and tipple in a novel way.

“Not everyone likes just tea and cakes so we thought that we’d put our imagination to the test and come up with a selection of suitably flavoured speciality drinks and cocktails.”

Tea-themed drinks include Breakfast Tea – Lemongrass and Ginger Tea chilled and shaken with Chase Marmalade Vodka; Cherry Bakewell – Saliza Amaretto & Cherry Liqueur; Rhubarb Fool – Chase Rhubarb Vodka with lime, cranberry and orange liqueur; Moroccan Mint Julip – a contemporary twist on the Kentucky Derby classic using loose leaf Moroccan mint tea and Evan Williams Bourbon, as well as Earl Grey and Chase Mulberry Sloe Gin.

Candice added:

“Our afternoon tea drinks menu is perfect for those wanting to try out a range of spirits that have been mixed in a unique and playful way. Whilst some variations feature flavours from our already popular sweet cocktails – many of the drinks have been created purely with Great British afternoon tea in mind.”

The Afternoon Tea drinks are available throughout Wednesday, March 18. Prices range from £6.50-£8.00.
