Downing is one of Liverpool’s best-known developers and property firms and has completed £4bn of developments in 38 year and now is getting serious about digital technology.

This week the company, founded by George Downing, appointed its first-ever chief technology officer. Jonathan Tizard comes with more than eight years of experience in the same position at Vita Group, another property business.

He will be tasked with pushing forward with digital innovation at Downing, “leveraging data to drive smarter business decisions across the organisation”.

Jonathan brings experience in technology leadership, digital transformation and building high-performing teams, having led technology functions for e-commerce operators Boohoo and Missguided, as well as social publishers LadBible.

Operating across all brands including Downing Living and Downing Students, Downing is investing significantly in technology to enhance customer experience, improve operational efficiency and enable smarter decision-making across the organisation.

Leading the company’s technology strategy, infrastructure, cybersecurity, data capabilities and digital innovation agenda, Jonathan’s role will see him oversee the continued development of the company’s technology platforms, data systems and digital services.

He will also play a key role in driving innovation across resident engagement, business operations and the wider customer journey.

“The creation of a chief technology officer role reflects Downing’s commitment to technology, innovation and continuous improvement. It’s an exciting opportunity to help shape how digital solutions, data and emerging technologies support the next stage of the company’s growth.”
