EEF, the manufacturers’ organisation, is holding a free employment law update in Liverpool later this month.

As a number of new legislative changes to employment law come into force in the next few weeks, EEF has launched a UK-wide drive to make sure firms ‘remain safe and compliant’.

The free briefing session is being run by HR and employment law experts from EEF at the Liverpool Everyman Theatre in Hope Street on Wednesday, April 18.

It will take local business owners and leaders through the latest legislation, case law and its implications for business. They will hear about the key developments in employment law and find out how to ensure their business stays compliant in the face of ever-evolving legislation.

This year’s update is more critical than ever as, from May 2018, new significant legislation on Data Protection – GDPR – comes into force. EEF’s team of experts will take a look at how these developments will impact local employers and what compliance will involve.

Also on the agenda is a practical look at how to deal with harassment in the workplace, and an update on recent case law decisions around disability discrimination and employee rest breaks.

Lucy Atherton, legal compliance expert at EEF, said: “This free annual session is about getting local businesses up-to-speed on the latest legal developments that could affect their company.

“Firms are coming under greater scrutiny than ever before and it’s vital that they ensure they have the right policies and procedures in place.
