A global push to encourage entrepreneurs and businesses of all sizes to create social and environmental impact beyond their bottom line has set up a base in Liverpool.

2030hub is the world’s first United Nations Local 2030 Hub and its team is on the lookout for the best businesses in the Liverpool city region, to support and showcase to the world.

With the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals at it’s core, 2030hub was created to support entrepreneurs. They are seeking organisations, large and small, from every sector, that display entrepreneurial spirit and innovation and create social and environmental impact beyond job creation.

Along with 192 other countries, the UK Government opted into the UN’s 17 Sustainable Development Goals back in 2015. The goals set out a vision for ending poverty, fighting inequality and stopping climate change by the year 2030.

The UN recognises that it is on a local level that much of the work must take place if it is to be realised. In July 2017 the UN Local2030 initiative was launched, with Liverpool acknowledged as a pioneer.

There are many ways business can demonstrate social value – it could be recycling, promoting gender equality in the workplace, donating unsold food or a long list of other things, large and small, practically everyone is doing good.

David Connor, founder of 2030hub, explains: “To be considered one of Liverpool’s best businesses, an organisation will need to demonstrate boldness and bravery.

“The Sustainable Development Goals urge us to focus on reaching the furthest behind in society first, so we want to hear from organisations tackling the toughest social and environmental challenges in creative ways.

“They also don’t have to be non-profit. In many cases, profitable businesses have significant ability to make long-term sustainable contributions to their communities. We’re here to help and support the visionaries and entrepreneurs in every sector.”

To be considered one of Liverpool’s best businesses you don’t have to be based within the city. You do have to be able to demonstrate the impact that your organisation makes within the Liverpool city region.

If you think that yours could be considered one of Liverpool’s best businesses, whether you are a sole trader or a multinational brand, contact gillian.torres@the2030hub.com for an application form.
