Gower appoints CBRE to manage Liverpool’s Royal Albert Dock estate

Royal Albert Dock operator Gower Street Estates has appointed property consultancy CBRE to provide property management services at the Liverpool waterfront attraction.
The 19th century dock was granted Royal status by the Queen earlier this year to mark its pivotal role in the city’s maritime history. Royal status comes as it prepares for a year of celebration in 2021 – 175 years since the dock was officially opened.
The 1.25m sq ft site, which attracts more than 6m visitors a year, includes offices, retail and leisure and is home to major attractions such as Tate Liverpool, Merseyside Maritime Museum, International Slavery Museum and the Beatles Story.
It also comprises the largest collection of Grade 1-listed buildings in the country.
CBRE will be responsible for delivering day-to-day management of the dock on behalf of freeholder Gower Street Estates to enhance the visitor and occupier experience.
Andrew Willoughby, UK asset services at CBRE, said: “Royal Albert Dock Liverpool is one of the UK’s most significant leisure attractions and we are delighted to have been appointed to bring our experience and expertise to manage such a prestigious site.”
Sue Grindrod, chief executive, Royal Albert Dock Liverpool, added: “There has never been a better time to join us here at Royal Albert Dock Liverpool as we enter an exciting new era in its 172-year history, counting up to 2021.
“As we build up to this milestone with new developments and investments, including the new Welcome Pavilion, which is set to open in 2019, and with footfall remaining very strong, the scene is set for a positive economic outlook for the dock.”
