Light Night culture crawl returns to Liverpool

Liverpool’s one-night arts festival is set to return to illuminate the city for its sixth year on 15 May, with thousands of visitors expected to explore and enjoy the city’s spectacular cultural offering.

Last year’s LightNight saw more than 50,000 visits and this year is anticipated to be even bigger.

LightNight is part of Museums at Night, the national festival of arts and culture, which sees cultural spaces across the country opening late into the night.

This year, LightNight will also launch Liverpool’s One Magnificent City, kicking off a series of major cultural events as part of this special programme, including the “Three Queens” event on 24 – 26 May and followed by the International Mersey River Festival 5 – 7 June.

For LightNight, visitors will be able to experience interactive  light projections, colourful street performances, exhibition launches, heritage tours, open studios, exclusive science demonstrations, live music, hands-on art workshops and much more as cultural institutions and galleries across Liverpool stay open late to showcase the best of the Merseyside’s art offer.

Tracey Crosbie, event manager at festival sponsors Liverpool BID Company, said:

“It’s a showcase of the city at its most creative, brimming with wit and imagination and as a result it never fails to surprise, stimulate and delight in equal measure.”

A wide range of events will be staged over 50 city centre locations, St George’s Hall, Tate Liverpool, FACT, Camp and Furnace, and The Royal Standard, ensuring that there’ll be something on offer for all ages; with all invited to participate and experience the wonders of LightNight.

The full programme will be released on 30 March 2015.
