Liverpool-based Golden Dragon Food celebrate 20th anniversary with Chinese New Year

The food manufacturer staged an event at their factory near Liverpool’s historic Chinatown this weekend, which kick-started Chinese New Year celebrations.

Golden Dragon food, the largest and oldest Chinese food manufacturer in Liverpool, marked their 20th year in business on Thursday, at their headquarters on Bridgewater Street.

The company hosted an event at their factory to mark the occasion, which saw business leaders from both the business and Chinese communities attend. Cabinet Member for Business and Enterprise, Councillor Gary Millar, came along and was treated to a tour the factory and wished them well for the next twenty years.

Chinese dragons kicked off proceedings with a special performance that wowed attendees. The dance, which is a symbol of China, is believed to bring good luck to the business for the future.

As part of the celebrations, the company gave away a selection of food samples to try. Guests got to taste traditional Chinese cuisine like pork Sui Mai’s, roast duck spring rolls and won ton soup.

Golden Dragon, situated on the edge of china town, supply national retailers like Morrison’s and Asda with popular Chinese dishes. The firm say they are currently in talks to stock ‘Costcutter’ with a range of their best sellers.

Owner Perry Ng, who took over the family business from his father, felt the event was a massive success. He said:

“The team were really pleased to welcome major business leaders from the respected Chinese community and Councillor Gary Millar.

“The company has gone from strength to strength since my father moved to the city and established it in 1995. Our event kick-started Chinese New Year 2015 which we hope will be hugely successful.”
