Digital entrepreneurs from Liverpool have been in India as part of a delegation to a leading tech event.

The mission, led by chair of Liverpool City Region Local Enterprise Partnership, Asif Hamid, travelled to Delhi for the India-UK Future Tech festival to explore business opportunities with Indian firms and investors.

The festival was organised by the UK’s Department for International Trade and included an awards event and reception.

Thos on the delegation included Paul Corcoran, Agent Marketing, Colin Sinclair, Knowledge Quarter Liverpool, Amanda Follit, Th_nk Live, Lee Omar, Red Ninja, Dave Burrows, Damibu and John Whaling, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.

Mr Hamid, who is also Combined Authority Portfolio Holder for Business & Brexit, said: “This trade visit is a hugely positive reflection of how the city region is reasserting itself on the international stage, building on our competitive strengths and key growth sectors.

“This trip has already highlighted the huge future opportunity for our city region in India and for Asian businesses in and around the Liverpool city region. The calibre of the tech sector executives making up the delegation and the reception they have received from Indian investors, bodes incredibly well in terms of future relations and deal-making.”

Colin Sinclair added: “It’s great to be here with so many fast growing home grown tech firms. Liverpool’s reputation for innovation in digital health, the internet of things, medtech and the creative industries, as well as in AI, AR and VR, is becoming truly global.”
