Liverpool law firm MSB launch academy to develop its rising stars

Liverpool-based MSB Solicitors launched the MSB Academy this week: an initiative that aims to educate younger employees at the firm on the practical and commercial implications of both business and personal development.

Partnering with The International Coaching Academy (ICA), the MSB Academy will deliver a series of participatory workshops led by ICA, as well as partnering with representatives of Liverpool’s business community to deliver guest events. The idea is to encourage younger members of the team to go outside of their comfort zone, learn about the different ways to grow a business and contribute to the vision and values of the firm.

The sessions will be supported by a programme of online learning, tailored specifically to challenge the students and support the workshop sessions.

Managing partner at MSB Paul Bibby said:

“The MSB Academy is an investment into the futures of our young people, which we hope will encourage them to be enterprising, think outside the box and challenge themselves in their roles here. It is about imparting real life business experiences and advice that will be so important to their development as budding lawyers, and as the people who will be ultimately responsible for driving the continued development of the firm.

“I myself have gone through transitional periods throughout my career, which I have applied to my role as managing partner. I have worked hard to grow my network and meet new people who can inform my understanding of the business landscape. I’m a believer in the power of collaborative working and forging partnerships and can’t advocate enough the value of learning from the successes and experiences of others; I simply want to encourage the young people who are rising through the ranks at MSB to explore similar opportunities and understand the impact this can have.”

John Haynes, director at The International Coaching Academy, added:

“I’m incredibly excited to be working with Paul Bibby and the team at MSB. Paul is a fantastic ambassador for the sort of behaviour changes we promote, but re-engineering or changing your processes will only take you so far.

“The business programmes we deliver at ICA are based on accelerated learning and designed for rapid transformation. We believe that the fastest, most sustainable and economical way for a business to flourish is by developing the people and involving them in your vision. This is what we intend to throughout our time working with MSB.”

There are more than twenty employees enrolled as part of the first cohort to the MSB Academy and the firm hopes that this will be an annual programme. This latest move follows the expansion of MSB’s city centre office last year, which now houses a dedicated mediation suite; and is part of their commitment to the continued development of the firm.

The International Coaching Academy was founded by former director of Royal and Sun Alliance, John Haynes, in 1996. John is a leading business consultant, who has dedicated more than forty years to helping people to develop their skills and understanding in leadership and management through creative and interactive learning.

MSB Solicitors are a full service law firm and celebrated their 25th anniversary last year. They now operate three offices based in Allerton, Wavertree and Silkhouse Court.
