Liverpool ‘ninja-warrior’ gym thrives after investment
North Liverpool ‘ninja-warrior’ gym opened by Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Henry Cookey thrives since being backed by River Capital in 2023. Tony McDonough reports

Liverpool SME funder River Capital is hailing the success of a fitness business it backed more than a year ago.
In October 2023 HC:FIT Ninja Training close to Sandhills in north Liverpool secured a £10,000 loan Small Business loan provided by Regional Growth Funding together with Unity Bank and managed by River Capital.
HC:FIT, which offers ‘ninja-warrior’ style training and was originally established in 2016 by Commonwealth Games bronze medalist Henry Cookey, has flourished since the cash injection.
It has benefited from new signage and interior renovations combined with amplified digital marketing efforts. This propelled HC:FIT to new heights. Membership has continued to increase.
Gym-goers are drawn to the ninja-warrior style training as seen on the popular television series Ninja Warrior UK in which Henry competed three times.
With further membership capacity available, HC:FIT has expanded its offerings, introducing a premium service tier with specialised programs designed to assist members’ across Liverpool in achieving their goals.
