This autumn sees the return of the free-to-enter Liverpool ONE dog show with prizes on offer in seven categories. Tony McDonough reports
Organisers of the Liverpool ONE Dog Show are inviting entries from dog owners across the city region with the event set to return this autumn.
Chavasse Park will be the venue for the event which will offer prizes across seven categories. It will take place on Sunday, September 11. Categories include Cutest Puppy; Prettiest Pooch; Handsomest Boy; Best Tricks; and Fancy Dress.
And two new categories are being added this year. They are Doggy Musical Statues and Rescue Dog. All of the furry competitors will show the judges what they can do on stage. They will then be paraded in front of the audience.
This year’s judging panel comprises Danielle Greenberg, owner of The Liverpool Vets, Jan Hughes, founder of charity partner Care for the Paw, and Jo Gordon, head booker at animal talent agency Urban Paws.

There will be a winner for each category and the competition is free to enter. They will take home dog treats, as well as a £50 Liverpool ONE gift card. Every entrant will receive a Liverpool ONE Dog Show collar rosette.
Charity partner for the show will be Care for the Paw. It supports dogs who are sleeping rough or in temporary accommodation. The dogs will be able to take part in short agility and behaviour training sessions with industry experts.
The show will also offer food and drink stalls and local businesses selling doggy gifts and products. Liverpool ONE says dogs are welcome through the complex with public water bowls and dog-friendly restaurants and stores.
Donna Howitt, place strategy director at Liverpool ONE, said: “We’re excited to welcome back the city’s most talented furry friends. We’re calling on all doggie families to pre-register to take part in what really is one of our most favourite events of the year.
“We’re glad to continue working with local organisations, Care for the Paw and The Liverpool Vets. We welcome Urban Paws and many other community groups this year, to join a fantastic celebration in Chavasse Park bringing the community together.”
