Local publishers to take on content marketing sector

Newhall Publications, the family-run business behind Candis magazine, has rebranded in a move which will take the company into the UK’s £4billion* multi-media content marketing industry.

Under the name Newhall Publishing, the Hoylake-based business will leverage the editorial, sales, subscription and distribution expertise it has amassed producing monthly women’s subscription magazine Candis since 1962.

Richard Woolliams, a former director of Archant Dialogue’s £5m multi-media agency, has been appointed as Newhall Publishing’s new business development director and is driving the redirection and rebrand. Richard has delivered projects for big brands including Aga and Porsche and brings a wealth of sector and commercial marketing expertise with him.

Richard Woolliams said:

“You don’t build and sustain a magazine like Candis without knowing how to create and distribute audience relevant content. The rebrand allows us to view Candis as a multi-media client rather than the sum total of the business and means we can take a very efficient and commercial response to an otherwise difficult consumer publishing market.

“Content marketing is a huge growth area and we have a vast amount of highly relevant experience including content strategy, design and subscription management. The rebrand is about recognising and unlocking that value in a multi-platform marketplace and helping clients to achieve their own content and brand objectives.”

Using the strapline ‘the content publishing agency’ Woolliams will focus Newhall Publishing’s attention on high quality lifestyle publications for membership organisations. The full service offering comprises digital, magazines, content strategy, design, media sales, subscriptions management, data management, distribution and fulfilment, telemarketing and events.

Newhall Publishing sits alongside Core Contact, a business offering telemarketing services, established in 2008 after Newhall recognised the value of its telemarketing expertise for other publishers.

Christine Blackford, director of Newhall Publishing said:

“These changes are about commercialising all the skills and talents we have within the business to their full potential. Core Contact is a perfect example of where we’ve done that before and with success.

“We’ve always been focused on giving people careers not jobs and we take nurturing talent seriously. The move into the content publishing market allows us to do that, creating bigger and better opportunities for our team and is both a very significant and exciting new chapter for Newhall.”

Newhall Publishing, Core Contact and Fenwall Investments together make up the Newhall Group.
