Royal College of Nursing, British Society for Rheumatology, British Association of Dermatologists and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists have all signed up to come back. Tony McDonough reports
Liverpool’s arena and convention complex has confirmed a number of major events will return to the waterfront venue as it enjoys its busiest autumn since opening almost a decade ago.
The Royal College of Nursing will return in 2019, 2020 and 2021. It has previously hosted four annual congresses at ACC Liverpool, including this year’s event for 5,000 delegates.
The congress provides an opportunity for members to take part in its debating forum, share nursing practice and influence policies for the year ahead.
In addition, the British Society for Rheumatology will hold its event at ACC Liverpool for the third time in 2020, after its annual conference took place at the venue in 2008 and 2014.
Other events include the British Association of Dermatologists, returning for the fourth time in 2019; Diabetes UK which took place in 2010 and 2014 and again in 2019; and the Royal College of Ophthalmologists which has held its annual congress at ACC Liverpool six times and will host its event again next year.
Steven Jenkinson, conference and events manager at the Royal College of Nursing, said: “We have held several very successful congresses at ACC Liverpool and each time have received positive feedback from our delegates.
“In particular, attendees enjoy the venue’s central and waterfront location and the opportunity to experience such a vibrant city.”
Conference highlights this autumn include Revo (previously known as the British Council of Shopping Centres), National Cancer Research Institute and Juice Plus.
Since 2008, more than 1,770 events have taken place across the ACC Liverpool campus – which comprises BT Convention Centre, Echo Arena and Exhibition Centre Liverpool.
The complex has welcomed more than 6.1m visitors and generated more than £1.3bn in economic impact for the city region.
Looking further ahead, conference highlights in 2018 include the return of BBC Worldwide Showcase in February and the Labour Party Conference next September, which is expected to attract more than 12,000 delegates.
