Known as Gill, Ms Moglione was given the honour in this week’s New Year’s Honours List for her work in Merseyside and the UK’s community, voluntary and local sector over 30 years

Decades of dedication to transforming the lives of women in Merseyside has been recognised in the shape of an MBE for Gillian Moglione, chair of The Women’s Organisation.

Known as Gill, Ms Moglione was given the honour in this week’s New Year’s Honours List for her work in the community, voluntary and local sector over 30 years.

She has helped to transform women’s lives across Liverpool and the UK and has offered a lifetime of unwavering dedication to women’s issues. The Liverpool-based Women’s Organisation itself has helped more than 50,000 women in the past 21 years.

Ms Moglione received the MBE for her work in three key areas which have improved and enhanced the lives of many women:

  • Supporting the management of key voluntary organisations that provide services to vulnerable communities
  • Devoting her time over the past eight years as  chair to The Women’s Organisation; which has helped thousands of women start their own businesses and access training and education opportunities
  • Bringing the issue of domestic violence to the fore

Pat Shea Halson, chair of the Women’s Organisation trading company, said of Ms Moglione: “Her vision and ability has changed the face of women’s entrepreneurship impacting thousands of lives and families.

“Her commitment to women’s issues throughout her life have led to real changes in womens lives.

“We are immensely proud of Gill and that she has been recognised for her achievements in the 2018 New Year’s Honours List. Gill will continue to dedicate her time to empowering women through her many activities in 2018 and years to come.”
