Ultimate Fighting Championship (UF) star Molly McCann is to become a brand ambassador for Merseyside sports nutrition business Applied Nutrition.
From its headquarters and manufacturing facility in Knowsley, Applied Nutrition sells its products, which include pre-workout powders and healthy lifestyle drinks, to more than 70 countries worldwide. It has annual sales of £22m.
Molly, who has the nickname ‘Meatball’, is a mixed martial artist. She is a former Cage Warriors Flyweight Champion and competes in the UFC’s women’s flyweight division. She is currently on a winning streak and last month secured a victory over American Hannah Goldy. Molly is back in action at Madison Square Garden on November 12.
Applied Nutrition will support Molly through a tailored nutritional plan. It will also supply products to optimise strength, conditioning and recovery during training and post-fight. She said: “I couldn’t be happier to have Applied Nutrition in my corner.
“I know the brand well and have used their products as part of my training programme for a long time. I work in the toughest sport in the world, so the fuel I use to get me through it is vital. I’m made up to have a brand I love and trust supporting me.”
At the beginning of August, Applied Nutrition announced a deal to supply its Diet Protein powder to 365 Asda stores. It also saw its Keto Collagen and Greens nutrient boost products appear in 80 Asda stores for the first time in July.
Managing director Thomas Ryder said: “Molly’s shaken up the flyweight division with her incredible personality and epic performances. We are absolutely delighted she’s now part of the Applied Nutrition family.”
