Mencap’s Liverpool Idol returns for 2014
Liverpool Idol will return to Pan Am at Liverpool’s Albert Dock on Thursday 6 November, where Liverpool’s business community are invited to strut their stuff and practice their pop moves to help Mencap raise £15,000 to continue the important work they do locally.
The event this year is being sponsored by Medicash and is supported by Barclays and Sense of Sound. Singers will receive vocal coaching prior to the competition and, once their song has been chosen, will get to rehearse with a full live backing band both before and on the big night.
Entry donation for a contestant to represent an organisation is £500, and each organisation is invited to come along on the night to place their votes for the overall winner.
Mencap Liverpool are still open for applications to take part, and are still looking for sponsors to help put on the big event.
Last year’s event was run in partnership with Professional Liverpool, sponsored by Medicash and Jackson & Canter and hosted by Radio Merseyside’s Roger Phillips. Seven brave contestants went head to head in an attempt to take the trophy.
The eventual winner was Rachel Ashworth, Solictor from Hill Dickinson and the event raised Mencap Liverpool a total of £10,500.
This year’s event promises to be even bigger, with eight (or more) singers sought to showcase their skills and their companies in this renowned competition.
