Merseyrail offers to showcase local businesses
Train operator Merseyrail will offer a free showcase for local businesses at its Liverpool city region station network for a week this autumn. Tony McDonough reports

Merseyrail is to offer local businesses the opportunity to showcase their products and services at Merseyrail stations across Liverpool city region.
To coincide with Local Business Week, which this year will run from September 22 to 26, Merseyrail will offer free promotional space across at the stations. The aim is to help local businesses connect with the tens of thousands of rail travellers.
Selected businesses will be given dedicated space at a Merseyrail station to promote their products or services, with no charge for participation. Across Local Business Week Merseyrail is offering over £20,000 worth of free pop-up activations.
This showcase will also be promoted through in-station and digital advertising campaigns, with participating businesses encouraged to donate to Merseyrail’s official Charities of the Year in return.
Suzanne Grant, chief commercial officer and deputy managing director at Merseyrail, said: “The local business showcase is about using our network as a force for good, creating new opportunities for local businesses to grow and thrive.
“Whether you’re stepping onto a train or discovering a new local favourite retailer, Merseyrail stations are becoming more than just connecting points, they’re gateways to opportunity, showcasing the brilliant people and businesses that make our region unique.”
