MSB Solicitors continue ambitious plans with a series of appointments

MSB Solicitors have appointed Andrew Pearson as a senior solicitor in their crime team. Andrew is a solicitor and Higher Court advocate in crime, once described by Chambers UK as ‘exceptionally talented’.

A criminal specialist with an emphasis on white collar and serious fraud, Andrew’s career spans more than twenty five years, during which time he has been admitted to the Defence Counsel and Duty Counsel at the International Criminal Court and appointed to the List of Counsel of the Special Tribunal for Lebanon.

Andrew is also a member of the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office Pro Bono Panel and independent adjudicator to the Legal Aid Agency High Costs Case Appeals Process. He is also experienced in providing representation to young people and adults with autistic spectrum disorders.

MSB already boats a strong criminal defence team, with more than twenty years’ experience in advising and representing clients on a range of criminal matters.

Sean Sexton, partner and head of crime at MSB said:

“We really are very pleased to welcome Andrew to the team. He’s an incredibly experienced criminal lawyer who I’m sure will add strings to our bow at MSB.

“He is a highly skilled solicitor and demonstrates an impressive commitment to his profession in being appointed to a number of professional bodies and organisations. We will do all we can at MSB to ensure we harness his passion and we’re confident he’ll help take the firm to the next level.”

MSB Solicitors have also expanded their team across a number of other departments as part of continued efforts to strategically grow the firm, following the expansion of their city centre office last year.

A succession of three previous appointments since the beginning of the year and a promotion, have significantly bolstered the firms offer across a range of services.

Pat Davies, joined the firm in late 2014 as a specialist mediator in the family team. Pat is well respected throughout Merseyside and Cheshire and has been established in the field since 1998. Pat will be based at MSB’s brand new mediation suite at Silkhouse Court and will work alongside Wendy Eaves to offer a full range of family mediation services, including direct consultation with children.

Kirsty Leather also joins the family team from Berkson Globe Solicitors. Kirsty specialises in private family law, dealing with a wide range of issues including separation and divorce, co-habitation issues, pre-nuptial agreements, financial matters, children disputes and injunctions.

Kirsty boasts a wide and varied career to date and has experience across a broad range of family work, having acted on international children’s cases and a number of expat divorces.

Finally, associate solicitor Elizabeth Morris joins the commercial property team from Cope & Co Solicitors. Elizabeth brings a wealth of experience in property law, having previously taken up roles at Brabners and Weightmans; and has spent time working in-house on secondment with Peel Ports and the Co-operative Group.

There have been further developments within the firm too, as Rebecca McCormick, who joined as executive assistant in 2009 was promoted to fee earner in plot sales team last month; and Emma Palmer, solicitor in the firm’s family team was awarded Resolution accreditation status and can now expertly advise on specialist and international family matters.

Managing partner at MSB, Paul Bibby said:

“It has been a phenomenal six months for the firm. We have expanded our office at Silkhouse Court, launched our own specialist mediation suite, taken on our first apprentices and launched the MSB Academy – an initiative that we hope will further the personal and professional development of our younger staff.

“These latest appointments are testament to how we have grown as firm, we now employ more than seventy staff and I feel this demonstrates our commitment to continually expanding and improving our service.

“Pat, Kirsty and Elizabeth all bring with them a wealth of experience in their respective fields and are already settling well into the team. Their combined skills are a fantastic asset to the firm and I’m confident each of them has a significant role to play as we continue to grow.

“Of course, it’s great to see established members of the team continue to hone their skills too and we’re all incredibly proud of the achievements of both Rebecca and Emma. Both young ladies have very bright futures ahead of them.”

MSB is a full service law firm and celebrated its 25th year in business in 2014. Partners Paul Bibby and Sean Sexton shared a vision of creating a firm to meet the demands of clients for a progressive and service oriented law firm.
