North West law firm Napthen has stuck a deal with the new Shakespeare North Playhouse to provide HR and employment support.

In a two-year agreement, Napthens will support the Prescot attraction with a number of services. These include contract drafting, appraisal process development, recruitment and induction process development, as well as assistance in upskilling line managers.

Napthens will also act as Shakespeare North’s outsourced HR partner. It will support the internal HR function and senior leadership team.

Costing £38m, the 420-capacity Shakespeare North Playhouse opened in July. As well as theatre performances it will offer educational learning opportunities for local schoolchildren. It will also host visiting theatre companies and cultural events in the region.

Based in Preston, Napthens employs around 40 people at its Liverpool city centre office. In July it reported annual revenues had risen 18% to £17.6m.

Jenny Heyes, head of People Projects at Napthens, said: “As Shakespeare North Playhouse continues to grow, we’ll be providing HR and employment law support. We’ll be helping Melanie Lewis (playhouse CEO) and her team to create an inclusive and rewarding working environment.”
