One World Festival returns as part of the IFB 2014
Next month the One World Festival will return for 2014 with a ‘World in One City’ theme as a main feature of the International Festival for Business.
Set to take place on Sunday July 6th (12pm-6pm) in Williamson Square, the “cultural extravaganza” will showcase sights, sounds, tastes and arts from a variety of the world’s continents.
The festival will be free to attend and will run as part of the IFB, to celebrate the diversity and multiplicity of cultures in the city.
It will bring to the fore artists of many diverse backgrounds and engage the public with performances that are rarely seen in the streets and the mainstream.
Festival features
- Stage in Williamson Square featuring performances by some of the best street, carnival, music and dance artists, presently resident in Europe.
- Over 20 stalls of cultural food, arts, crafts and global organisations.
- International walk-about impromptu performances and in-situ presentations will start off at different points in the city centre and weave towards the main hubs, interacting with the public and drawing them into the event.
Garth Dallas, One World Festival organising partner, said:
“We are absolutely delighted to be contributing to the immense cultural calendar for the IFB which is showcasing Liverpool as a city that has a wide world of cultures within it.”
“As the world of business converges on Liverpool for the International Festival for Business they will be treated to an explosion of cultural performances and entertainment by world-class artists from One World Festival. We are honoured to have been chosen to contribute to such an historic event and we will certainly make Liverpool proud by the sheer brilliance of our cultural programme.”
Francisco Carrasco, Creative Director added:
“Liverpool is now established as a centre for excellence of international festivals. Every year more and more events of the highest quality are produced and presented and more and more people come to the city because of its rich artistic and cultural offering.”
“The One World Festival is fast establishing itself as a festival that promotes and presents high quality international performers based in the Liverpool city region and throughout the UK. In 2014 the One World Festival continues to cement its place as a rich, diverse and top calibre event with performers from as far afield as Peru, India, Zimbabwe, China and Spain. With Jugglers, dancers, musicians, carnavalists and outdoor artists as well as international food and craft stalls, we are confident that everyone will enjoy this year’s breath-taking performers.”
