A coffee shop opened in Liverpool city centre to raise funds to support rough sleepers in the city is now offering £10 a day co-working and events space.

Paper Cup Coffee opened in Queen Square in the city centre in February 2022. It was the brainchild of Michelle Langan who, for several years, has run the Paper Cup Project (PCP). Its group of volunteers offers food, clothing and support to rough sleepers.

Michelle saw the not-for-profit coffee shop as a natural extension of PCP’s work. As well as raising vital funds for the charity, it also offers a route to training and employment for homeless people in Liverpool.

Now its open plan upstairs space is available for events and for people who are seeking a co-working space in the city. For £10 per person per day, people will have access to a space to work in with wifi and power points, as well as filter coffee.

The space will initially be available on Wednesday and Thursday next week and then on other subsequent days. Availability each week will be dependent on whether or not the space has been booked for events.

Called ‘Paper Cup Above’, the upstairs space accommodates up to 40 people. It was made possible thanks to funding from Rise Construction and Central Primary Care Trust.

PCP chief executive Michelle Langan said: “We are really pleased that our upstairs area is now ready and available for local organisations and businesses to hire. Hire space in Liverpool city centre is often hard to find, and we offer a great location and fantastic packages.

“All profits generated from the hire of our space will be ploughed back into our charity. It means we can continue our work assisting and supporting people experiencing homelessness.

“The space is great for breakfast or lunch meetings, and we will also be running co-working days on certain days of the week, We will advertise which days across our social media. It’s a great opportunity for people to support our charity, and to enjoy some great food and coffee at the same time.”

Paper Cup Coffee is located at 2 Queen Square (behind Tapas Revolution) It is open on weekdays 8am to 4pm and Saturday 9am to 3pm. For booking enquiries contact admin@papercupproject.org
