Liverpool office workers are sick of corporate jargon in their workplaces, a new survey reveals.

The study by independent job site, CV-Library, reveals workers in the city yearn for plain speaking.

It found 72.3% of people felt buzzwords or phrases were unnecessary in the office and were sick of hearing them.

Almost three-quarters believed their colleagues only used them to sound more intelligent or to impress their bosses.

The 10 most hated phrases are:

1. Let’s touch base – 50%
2. How long is a piece of string – 40%
3. Ping me – 35.3%
4. Get all your ducks in a row – 35%
5. Thinking outside the box – 30%
6. Run it up the flag pole – 30%
7. Best practise – 29.4%
8. It’s a no brainer – 25%
9. FYI – 23.5%
10. Park this – 23.5% 

Lee Biggins, founder and managing director of CV-Library, said: “It’s unsurprising to see that buzzwords are falling away from the workplace in Liverpool.

“With clear and concise communication the number one priority for many companies, it’s understandable that more and more workers are growing agitated with buzzword focussed environments.

“While technical knowledge and understanding is extremely important to help drive businesses forward, there needs to be a clear differentiation between technical terminology and everyday buzzwords.”
