Blue Air add second Liverpool route

Blue Air has recently announced a new second route from Liverpool John Lennon Airport, with flights directly to the Romanian city of Bacau to start in March 2015.

This news has come only three months after Blue announced its inaugral three times weekly service from Liverpool to the Romanian capital of Bucharest starting December 2014.

Bacau is located in North East Romania, in the historic region of Moldavia in the foothils of the Carpathian Mountains and is one of Romania’s cultural hubs with a state theatre, many museums, and a symphony orchestra. Attractions include the UNESCO World Heritage churches of northern Moldavia which feature a collection of colourful paintings.

Flights to Bacau are scheduled to start of Blue Air’s summer schedule on March 31, with departures at 12:40AM on Wednesday and Sunday mornings. Blue Air will operate a Boeing 737-400 on this route, an aircraft with 162 seat capacity.

Mark Povall, director of air service development at Liverpool John Lennon Airport said:

“The response to the launch of Blue Air’s flights to Bucharest has been very encouraging and the support shown by the region’s business community has undoubtedly contributed to the airline’s latest decision to already add further flights, before even starting their operations from here.

“This is an exciting time for the airline and we will continue to work closely to explore other opportunities to serve Liverpool from elsewhere across their network.”

Gheorghe Racarau, Blue Air general manager added:

“Blue Air has been permanently developing by opening new routes, increasing the fleet or adding new services.

“After the launch of the direct flights from Liverpool to Bucharest, the positive response was overwhelming and since then, the requests for flights to Bacau have increased. After careful analysis of the market, we are pleased to announce Blue Air’s second route from Liverpool John Lennon Airport.”
