The Women’s Organisation needs help to complete its book

A search has begun to find Liverpool city region’s most dynamic female entrepreneurs.

Liverpool-based The Women’s Organisation is producing a book featuring 21 of the Merseyside’s most outstanding female business founders.

Twenty chapters have already been written. Now the St James Street-based social enterprise has put out a call for nominations for the final piece in the jigsaw to highlight the outstanding examples of entrepreneurship throughout the region.

The book is part of the organisation’s 21st anniversary celebrations throughout 2017. It will feature interviews with 21 inspirational and empowering women.

The full roll call of these influential business leaders will be revealed when the book is published in February, next year.

Abi Inglis, spokeswoman for the group, said: “If there is a woman in your life, or in your community, in your family or one of your friends, whether she is your employer, your employee, or a woman you might have met only once, if you think she is simply empowering and inspiring, tell us who she is.

We are looking specifically for a woman who is living in Merseyside, so we can interview her and invite her to a photoshoot – but other than that, it’s down to you.

“All you need to do is send us a few sentences about why you think they should be our 21st woman.”

You can email your suggestions to Abi at abiinglis@thewo.org.uk by Monday, November 13.

Since The Women’s Organisation was founded 21 years ago, initially as Train 2000, it has helped more than 50,000 women create, or improve their businesses.

The venture now operates from its own £5.3m purpose-built hub at 54 St James Street, which also provides incubator space for almost 120 budding entrepreneurs.

Co-founder and chief executive Maggie O’Carroll said: “From personal development, to starting and growing a sustainable business, our core focus is to make an impact on the lives of women and communities – locally, nationally and internationally.
