Still time to submit ideas for Liverpool time capsule

Organisers of Capsule of Culture, the Royal Liver Building 360 attraction, say there is just a few weeks left for people in the Liverpool city region to get involved in Capsule of Culture. Tony McDonough reports

Members of the public across the Liverpool city region are being urged to submit their ideas for a Liverpool ‘time capsule’ with the deadline for suggestions on December 31.

Stars including Kim Cattrall, Trent Alexander-Arnold and  Drag Race UK winner The Vivienne are partnering with the Royal Liver Building 360 attraction on the project. Capsule of Culture will commemorate 2020, a huge year in so many ways.

Celebrities, as well the as the public and schools and community leaders, will decide on content for the capsule. People are being asked to submit their ideas to commemorate the landmark moments of the year.

Hundreds of Merseysider’s have already submitted their ideas for the capsule, being sponsored by MJ Quinn. It will be permanently displayed inside the world famous Royal Liver Building on the waterfront.

Peter Johnson-Treherne from Royal Liver Building 360 said: “We’ve had suggestions covering Brexit, Black Lives Matter, the US presidential election, Liverpool winning the premier league, Everton’s best ever start to the season and the 75th anniversary of VE Day.

“Of course, we’ve had lots of ideas remembering the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and the heroics of our frontline workers.  Ideas have been flooding in. The time capsule will mark the closing of one decade and the opening of a new one.

“It will commemorate what has been one of the most significant years in world history. There is still time to submit ideas but we need to receive them by midnight on December 31.”

Liverpool schools and members of the public are being encouraged to submit ideas for the Capsule of Culture by emailing capsule@rlb360.com and those submitting ideas should include their contact details.
