Sydney unveiled as Liverpool’s first waterfront partner

Sydney has been announced as the first city partner to be involved in the Liverpool International Waterfront Forum (LIWF) 2015, and will send a key speaker to address delegates this summer.

The LIWF returns after its first event last year, which took place as part of the government-backed International Festival for Business 2014.

LIWF offers a global platform for waterfront cities to get together and confer on common themes, fostering strong international alliances.

The idea was created  in a partnership between Liverpool Waterfront Business Partnership and international consultancy Arup, and will be hosted this year at the Cunard Building on Liverpool’s iconic Pier Head, on 3 & 4 June.

On discussion at LIWF 2015 will be the theme of “exploring the role of culture and place making” as a means of fostering growth in waterfront cities.

Anita Mitchell, general manager sustainability for Lendlease, will be the speaker representing Sydney and the $6 billion Barangaroo South waterfront urban renewal project.

Sydney’s largest urban renewal project since the 2000 Olympics, Barangaroo South is one of the most significant waterfront transformations currently underway anywhere in the world.
