The Three Queens are nearly here!

This weekend, Liverpool gets set to experience history in the making, as the Three Queens sail into the city. A whole programme of events has been planned to really make waves and ensure the festivities can be enjoyed by all.

As part of One Magnificent City programme, which celebrates Liverpool’s internationally renowned maritime history and transatlantic links, the Three Cunard Queens will arriving in Liverpool over the Bank Holiday weekend.

Queen Victoria, Queen Elizabeth and Queen Mary 2 will sail into their spiritual home together to mark the 175th anniversary of Cunard. Their exact movements can be found online here

As well as the privilege of witnessing this once-in-a-lifetime event, visitors and spectators will also be treated to a range of other activities.

Amazing Graces, a state-of-the-art light projection, will be beamed onto the Three Graces on Friday and Saturday evening – a spectacular light show that focuses on exploring the spirit of Liverpool.  Our team were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at rehearsals on Thursday and promise this is definitely not to be missed!

And celebrations of our city are set to continue, with not long to go until The International Mersey River Festival & Music on the Waterfront.  Taking place from 5-7 June, this popular event returns with a three day celebration of all things maritime and music.

The River Festival programme includes tall ships, cadet displays, street performances and live music and of course this year welcomes the inaugural Northern Boat Show, which will host around 150 exhibitors and 60 boats, attracting an estimated 25,000 visitors.

Back to this weekend and the first ship to sail onto our horizon will be Queen Mary 2, berthing at Liverpool Cruise Liner Terminal at around 9am on Sunday.

On Monday at 10:45am, she will leave the terminal to join her sisters at Brazil Buoy before they sail into Liverpool in formation between 12 and 2pm.

Liverpool is set to receive royal treatment that may only be experienced once in a lifetime, make sure you’re there early to nab your spot!
