For any new business to strive and be successful, strategic marketing methods are key.

Bosses at Liverpool’s most exciting new hotel development have hired the woman who will implement such tactics to generate new and potential business enquiries.

Kerry Smith

Kerry Smith, from Hoole, Chester has been announced as Sales and Marketing Director for the Titanic Hotel, on Stanley Dock.

The 153 bed four-star hotel will feature two bars, a restaurant a spa and a 1,000 capacity events space. The Rum Warehouse is set to open Summer 2014.

Since her appointment Kerry has been proactively networking and building relationships with businesses across the region.

She said:

“I have worked within the hotel industry in Liverpool for many years. I am really passionate about my work and I understand how important it is, especially in a city like Liverpool, to network and build relationships.

“As sales and marketing director part of my job is understanding the needs and desires of potential customers and looking at how our product can cater to them.”

Although now working in sales and marketing Kerry got a taste for the hotel industry aged just 21 in a receptionist role at Holiday Inn, Ellesmere Port.

Through face to face and telephone contact with customers she quickly discovered her strengths and desire to move up in the industry.

Her next steps included five years as Conference Manager at Crowne Plaza Liverpool where she oversaw corporate events, conferences and weddings.

She added:

“I have learned so much from each of my roles. In the early days of my career there was not much competition and only a few high end hotels dotted around the city.

“This enabled me to really build on my marketing and sales strategies as we had a particular type of customer who would be interested in booking with us. Over the years I’ve had to adapt and hone these skills as now our customers are being offered such great deals from a whole host of hotels across the Liverpool region.”

Kerry took time out from her career to become a mum and has a daughter Lauren, aged 10. After 18 months she returned to the industry and since then her roles have continuously progressed.

Kerry has worked on many hotel openings including; Convention Centre, Indigo/Day Inn and Double Tree Liverpool.

“I love a challenge and I am really lucky as my role provides new challenges daily. It is great to work on a project with a hardworking team and see your plans and ideas come to life.

“Working in Liverpool for many years has meant that I have also been privileged to see the phenomenal growth and development of the city. Since Capital of Culture, Liverpool has continuously excelled and now with the redevelopment of Stanley Dock it is only going to grow more.”

Stanley Street Dock was once home to hundreds of workers across Liverpool. Many people travelled great distances for work and because of this Liverpool Dock has become one of the best known locations in history.

The Titanic Hotel will create hundreds of jobs and bring Stanley Street Dock back to life.

“I am so proud to be part of the Titanic Hotel. There is nothing like it in the city and the history behind it is phenomenal. Everyone I liaise with has a friend, family member or a colleague who has links to the Dock.

“For the team and I to bring this fabulous location in Liverpool back to life is overwhelming. Our team, our customers, our business partners are all creating history. I am really excited to welcome people from around the world to visit the Titanic Hotel, the city of Liverpool and the vast amount of culture we have on out doorstep.”
