Veterinary nurses secure £150,000 to buy pet shop

Two registered veterinary nurses with a passion for animal welfare secure £150,000 via Liverpool SME investor River Capital to acquire pet shop. Tony McDonough reports

Start-up business Pets Pantry NW has secured £150,000 from River Capital to acquire an established pet store.

Georgina Egerton and Ellis Walker, two registered veterinary nurses with a passion for animal welfare, have formed the new entity to acquire the Pets Pantry outlet in Stockton Heath in Warrington.

Georgina and Ellis have a combined experience of over 25 years in the veterinary sector. They have secured the cash for the deal from Liverpool-based River Capital’s Business Growth Loan Fund. This cash will also be used for working capital.

Established in 1980, Pets Pantry has been a staple in the Stockton Heath community, offering a range of pet products and services.

Under Georgina and Ellis’ leadership, the business plans to enhance its customer experience through interactive product displays, digital integration, and expanded educational offerings.

Ellis added: “The UK pet industry is thriving, and we are excited to be at the forefront of this growing market.

“With our professional backgrounds and industry expertise, we are well-positioned to take Pets Pantry to new heights while maintaining the exceptional service our customers have come to expect.”

Pets Pantry’s existing staff of five employees are being retained, ensuring a smooth transition and continuity of operations and the acquisition now completed.
