Wild Thang backing city region tourism awards

Brand marketing specialist Wild Thang says it will be offering sponsorship to the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards for the eighth year running. Tony McDonough reports

Wild Thang is to sponsor an award at the forthcoming Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards for the eighth year running.

Organised by economic development agency Growth Platform, the awards will take place at Liverpool Cathedral on Thursday, March 2, 2023. Out of the 18 categories, 13 winners will go forward to the Visit England Awards in June.

Bootle-based brand marketing specialist Wild Thang will be sponsoring the Tourism Young Person of the Year accolade. This award highlights a young person who has had an excellent year and shown tremendous development.

Founder and managing director of Wild Thang, Andrew Dwerryhouse, said: “Wild Thang is incredibly proud to be supporting the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards once again.

“It’s our eighth year supporting because we see first-hand the importance of the hospitality and tourism sector to the region’s visitor economy and future prosperity, having worked with many hospitality companies and tourism organisations.

“This year we are excited to have chosen to sponsor of the award for Young Person Of The Year. Wild Thang has employed many young people and apprentices over the last 27 years, some of whom are now in senior positions in the company.

“We have seen the positive impact first hand that they can make for the long term.

“We are sure it will be another spectacular night to remember in the world class Liverpool Anglican Cathedral and wish lots of luck to all the deserving finalist nominees.”

In January Wild Thang hailed its “perfect start” to 2023 after securing a top industry accolade. It was named one of Sourcing City’s Distributors of the Year for 2022. This followed being awarded Business of the Year (over 30 employees) at the Liverpool Chamber Innovation in Business Awards in November.

In its latest campaign, the fast-growing business has unveiled a range of branded merchandise to celebrate Valentine’s Day on February 14.

Included in the range, which it offers to all its clients, include love heart hand-warmers, love heart sweets, wine coolers, hoodies, Valentine Ball pen sets, blankets, candles, bluetooth speakers, sustainable coffee cups, tote bags and love heart stress balls.

Andrew added: “Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and our world-class team at Wild Thang have put together a fantastic collection. 79% of companies said they were more likely to do business with the company that sent over a gift.

“This shows you the power and overall impact of the use of branded merchandise can have on your business’s marketing success.”
