A leading expert in artificial intelligence and a BBC science correspondent are among the speakers at this year’s Binary Festival in Liverpool.

Lydia Gregory, co-founder of FeedForward and part of the BIMA AI think tank, has been announced as a Binary Gathering leader, while Emer Maguire, BBC presenter and science communicator, will present a Binary Keynote address.

FeedForward is an artificial intelligence consultancy set up in 2017 to bring businesses together with the leading edge of machine learning research. The Binary Gathering will be moderated by Jonathan Seal, strategy director from Liverpool-based digital agency Mando.

Binary takes place at venues across the city on Thursday, March 22, supported by principal partners Bruntwood, Baltic Creative and Liverpool City Council, celebrating the best of the city region’s innovators, inventors, makers and creators.

Delegates can purchase passes to experience the full roster of lectures, workshops, social events and expos at www.binaryfestival.com

Other speakers include Andy Kent, founder of educational app developer Angel Solutions, and Metro Mayor of the Liverpool City Region Steve Rotheram, who will be discussing his plans to make Liverpool the epicentre of the UK’s digital age.

Colin Forshaw, regional director at Bruntwood, said: “Even the most innovative and forward-thinking businesses in the region can struggle to keep up with the sheer pace of technological change and the challenge of harnessing new technologies to improve what they do.

We already work with a number of businesses that are using AI to improve their understanding of customer needs and boost their marketing and engagement, so it will be interesting to hear of other examples and find out what’s coming next.”
