A blooming good fundraiser
As part of a grand fundraiser, Sefton Park Palm House played host to an exclusive dinner and art auction.
Throughout the ‘Gardener’s Alms’ event, hundreds descended on the Grade II Victorian glasshouse in order to raise vital funds to ensure that the venue’s spectacular international plant collection continues to flourish.
After enjoying a glass of fizz on arrival, guests were treated a three course meal devised by Chapman Holmes, followed by an art auction led by long-term Friend of the Palm House, BBC Radio Merseyside’s Roger Phillips.
Director of the Palm House Moira Leonard said:
“As a Preservation Trust we generate income, which funds a varied events programme that offers something for everyone and helps maintain this iconic jewel of Sefton Park.
“While the City Council provides some services, we now need to fund our own specialist gardeners, which is a must given our magnificent collection of plants.
“The Gardener’s Alms event was a huge success as we saw the arrival of many familiar faces and supporters of our beautiful venue. We would like to thank everybody that attended the event as they actively helped to make a difference and safeguard the future of the Palm House.”
