ACC Liverpool has secured a number of new annual conferences that will come to the city for the first time.
They are headed by the Royal College of Physicians (RCP) annual conferences that will bring around 1,000 delegates to Liverpool in April 2021. The event will coincide with the opening of The Spine, the RCP’s new £35m northern headquarters in the Knowledge Quarter.
NHS Providers – the membership organisation for the NHS acute, ambulance, community and mental health services – recently confirmed a three-year deal to bring its annual conference and exhibition to the waterfront venue from November 2021 to 2023. Also coming for the first time next year is the Building Societies Association annual conference.
In addition to new events, a series of associations will return to ACC Liverpool including the British Oncology Pharmacy Association, returning for the second time next year, the College of Podiatry – returning in 2020, 2021 and 2022 and the Association of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland returning in May 2021 for the third time. The Museums Association and the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries will both take place in November 2021.
Professor Cheng-Hock Toh, academic vice-president of the RCP, said: “The RCP is marking its next 500 years of improving the practice of medicine with the opening of The Spine in 2021.
“This exciting development will bring RCP together with key players in the healthcare sector to forge a new dynamic to collectively address contemporary health issues. RCP will be at the heart of a new Knowledge Quarter – known as Paddington Village – in Liverpool.
“It is therefore fitting that we host our annual conference at ACC Liverpool in the same year as we open The Spine to our members and the people of Liverpool. The conference will provide that vital opportunity to spark new conversations with new partners to advance knowledge that can benefit patients, our society and the economy.”
Another confirmed event is with the European Eye Bank Association which will bring delegates from across Europe in 2021 and will return to the UK for the first time in more than 30 years.
