Delifonseca Dockside and Edge & Sons named finalists in Butcher’s Shop of the Year Awards

Delifonseca Dockside has been named as a finalist in the Butcher’s Shop of the Year Awards 2016.

After impressing industry critics, the award-winning Brunswick Quay eatery and deli has beat off stiff competition from across the UK, to secure a finalist position in the ‘Food Hall Butchery Business of the Year’ category.

Along with its in-house butchery concession Edge & Sons, members of the Delifonseca team are set to attend an exclusive awards ceremony, which will take place at London’s Banking Hall on Monday, November 7.

Proprietor of Delifonseca Candice Fonseca said:

“Having joined forces with independent butchers Edge & Sons this year, it’s fantastic that our collective efforts and passion for locally sourced good produce are recognised on a national scale.

“As a family butchers that spans five generations, what sets Edge & Sons apart is their personal relationship with local farmers, all of which are situated within a 25 mile radius to keep food miles down to a minimum. It is because of this personable approach that our team are able to relay specific produce information to our food savvy customers, who want to be clued up on exactly what they are eating.”

Delifonseca Dockside is renowned for its extensive food hall offerings and is stocked with quality staples, together with foodie provisions that support small local, regional and international artisan producers. The venue is also home to a fully staffed Edge & Sons concession, which sells the very best meat from local, free range, British, native and rare breed livestock.

Owner of Edge & Sons Callum Edge said:

“We are thrilled to have secured a place in the finals as part of our collaboration with Delifonseca. As a foodie institution that champions independent retailers, we share a similar ethos when it comes to encouraging people to explore new tastes and learn about what it is that they eat.

“We do try to sell more native breeds than any other independent in the country and as a business we insist on traditional breeds and original gene pools. Our tried and tested methods and involvement in the farm to fork process allows us to be creative with our offerings, while at the same time making every part of an animal be accessible to the customer.”

Having built up a reputation over the past 22 years, the Butcher’s Shop of the Year Awards celebrates national butchery excellence by recognising and honouring those that are representing the industry.
