City Chefs celebrate Launch of new Liverpool Food and Drink Festival taxi

Chefs taking part in Liverpool Food and Drink Festival launched the official festival taxi last week, which features celebrity chef Gino D’Acampo and Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain – both who are appearing at next month’s event.

Liverpool is one of only a few large-scale food festivals in the UK to promote its own city’s bars and restaurants and over 70 will be taking part, when it returns to Sefton Park on 17th and 18th September.

Held in the picturesque surroundings of Sefton Park, the festival attracted over 45,000 visitors in 2015, and this September, in its ninth year, includes an impressive mix of chef demonstrations, masterclasses, themed dining areas, live music and a chance to sample some of the region’s finest flavours.

Nadiya Hussain will guest on festival Saturday, where she will share her cookery tips and give advice, whilst the Sunday sees best selling author and chef Gino D’Acampo host cookery demonstrations and be interviewed about his food and television careers.

Festival-goers will enjoy a new event format also, with the site divided into a series of clearly defined zones, grouping together producers, brands and food genres that complement each other such as bangers and craft beers as well as stand-alone favourites including street food, chocolate and spirits, including a new Spirit Theatre, where visitors can learn more about their favourite tipple.

Additional zones will include a Kids Village where junior foodies will have a range of activities to keep them entertained, from arts and crafts to food-based fun. The Market is one of the most popular areas of the festival – in its avenues visitors can buy ingredients including fresh produce, as well as books and kitchen gadgets.

New for 2016, the Good Life area, focuses on all things natural, as well as ‘free-from’ and health industry innovations. The Healthy Living stage will include demos and Q&As hosted by celebrity nutritional health coach and best selling cookery writer Madeleine Shaw, who will be focusing on how to live a balanced lifestyle.

Bringing their A-game to the park are Liverpool’s numerous bars and restaurants, who come together to create one of the liveliest and largest food courts in the North. Cooking up a storm with a whole variety of sights, sounds and mouth-watering aromas, they’ll be showcasing their menus as well as signature dishes.
