Around 400 direct and indirect jobs will be created following the arrival of an eighth easyJet aircraft at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA).
In a move first revealed in LBN in November 2024, easyJet is basing a new Airbus A320neo aircraft at LJLA, increasing capacity for the busy summer season. Over the past 12 months easyJet has launched a number of new routes out of Liverpool.
They include Malta, Fuerteventura, Prague, Berlin, Marrakesh, City of Derry, Sharm el Sheikh, and Split which will depart for the first time on June 9. And for the winter season easyJet will begin twice weekly return flights to the Canary Islands from October 27
Ali Gayward, easyJet’s UK country manager, said: “We are really pleased to be celebrating the arrival of an eighth aircraft at our Liverpool base, as well as the launch of our new summer route to Split.
“Not only does our fleet growth in Liverpool support many skilled jobs and connectivity which play a crucial role in economic growth, it is a clear demonstration of our continued commitment to serving customers from the North West.
“Through our unrivalled short-haul network and unique easyJet holidays offering from Liverpool, we continue to provide more choice and value for money, always aiming to make travel easy for the 2m customers we fly to and from Liverpool every year.”

Paul Winfield, director of aviation development at LJLA, said the arrival of the eighth easyJet aircraft is “fantastic news for both the airport and the region”.
He added: “This will not only provide more choice and flexibility for our passengers but also demonstrates easyJet’s confidence in the airport’s ongoing development and commitment to the North West.
“We look forward to welcoming more passengers from across the North West to experience the faster easier friendlier airport experience.”
It was 1997 when easyJet first started flying from LJLA with routes to Nice, Amsterdam and Geneva. Today, the airline operates up to 328 flights a week, offering 31 routes to 15 countries across Europe and North Africa.
