Games development studio Starship launches Playworld Superheroes

The Liverpool-based digital media, technology and entertainment studio Starship have finally unveiled the hotly anticipated Playworld Superheroes, the first in a series of mobile adventures where craft and imagination unleash a world of possibilities.

Playworld Superheroes is available to download now from the Apple App Store and unusually, feature no in-app purchases whatsoever. Created to fire the imagination of gamers everywhere, Playworld challenges the player to design – and then become – their own superhero in order to save the earth across a series of escalating challenges and episodes.

This ambitious new venture is the brainchild of Evolution Studios founder and MotorStorm creator Martin Kenwright, bringing over 30 years of experience developing more than 69 console titles to the world of mobile kids’ gaming. Designed from the ground up for children aged 5+, Playworld forms the basis for a series of action adventure games fusing crafting and creativity.

Kenwright explained:

“Playworld is like the secret doorway into a child’s imagination,

“A child has the ability to transform the most mundane item into fantastical objects of great importance, and we really tried to mimic the way that children play with Playworld. Where an adult might only see a cardboard box, a child sees endless possibility, anything from a rocket to a superhero suit. In Playworld, imagination is the greatest superpower, you truly get to become the hero of your own creations.”

The aim was to create genuinely family-friendly entertainment at a pocket money price point, while still delivering console-quality gameplay and visuals for for the growing tablet and smartphone audience. Incorporating eco-friendly messages throughout, Playworld embraces a no-strings attached revenue model with absolutely no in-app purchases or hidden costs. Quite simply,  Playworld provides a safe and stimulating environment for children, and a play brand that parents can trust.

Playworld Superheroes is available from 29th January on iPhone 5S, 6, 6 Plus, iPad Mini 2, iPad Mini 3, iPad Air and iPad Air 2, and will cost £2.99 in the UK.
