Liverpool carnival launches

The Brouhaha International Festival will launch Liverpool carnival tomorrow night at the brand new and stunning District House events space in Water Street, with fourteen days of local, national and international indoor and outdoor performances to follow.

The launch highlighted Brouhaha carnival parades, schools and community workshops, a carnival sector youth conference ‘New Voices’ and a new three day event ‘The Caribbean Music Festival’.

More than a dozen countries around the globe will be represented with more than 250 performers taking part, who will also be participating with thousands of fellow performers in Saturday’s parade along a new route.

Giles Agis, executive director of the Brouhaha International Festival explained:

“We are fiercely community-oriented and also want to spread our message to both indigenous businesses in the city and the wider general public of Liverpool. Thanks to both the Arts Council and Liverpool City Council, we have been enabled to do this on Saturday and look forward to parading from Bold Street and then eventually on towards Princes Avenue, our more traditional route.”

Mr. Agis added:

“Given the awareness from our launch tomorrow night and the support we’ve had from local media, we are expecting a record turnout along the route, with global performances and hundreds of families being represented across the Merseyside region…it’s all set to be an awesome spectacle!”
