Specialist bespoke software developer Yozu has relocated its head office in Liverpool city centre from the Ropewalks area to the Cotton Exchange in the business district.

The firm specialises in building mission-critical web and mobile applications for SMEs and larger blue-chip clients using technologies pioneered by the digital giants such as Google, Amazon and Facebook.

This approach has allowed Yozu to attract dozens of new clients and the firm has now secured a 7,400 sq ft workspace on the second floor that was once part of the original cotton trading hall, featuring exposed pillars, coving and statues that once adorned its ceiling.

Bruntwood Works, which owns the Cotton Exchange, has invested significantly over recent years to transform the historic Grade II-listed building, which is now home to dozens of businesses in the digital and creative sectors. 

This work includes a new reception area that features two new meeting rooms, a series of informal collaboration and breakout spaces, new refreshment facilities and a relocated welcome point. The building also features communal spaces including a rooftop garden, bicycle store and The Old Hall events space.

Kirsty Cashen, business co-ordinator at Yozu, said: “Our new office is an amazing new home for the team. The building has been recently refurbished to provide great shared spaces that appeal to clients and employees alike.
