A 127-home development in Wirral has welcomed its first residents.

Developer Anwyl Homes has built 127 new homes on land formerly occupied by the research and development division of consumer products giant Unilever in Bebington. Unilever has continued its R&D at facilities close by.

It comprises one to four-bedroom homes, including houses and apartments, and is located off Quarry Road and also fronts onto Bromborough Road.

This scheme is called Lottie Gardens honour of Bebington-born sportswoman Charlotte ‘Lottie’ Dod (1871 to 1960) a celebrated five-time Wimbledon tennis champion, Olympic silver medal-winning archer and national golf champion.

Unilever first put the land up for sale in 2020. It is separated from the Port Sunlight factory complex by a road and a railway line. The Manufacturing Technology Centre and the Advanced Manufacturing Centre were not affected by the sale of the site in 2024.

Anwyl has released images of the homes and sales director Graeme Gibb said: “It’s always a proud moment to welcome the first residents to a new development and see a community begin to take shape.

“Lottie Gardens has attracted a strong level of interest since its launch and it’s wonderful to see homeowners now enjoying life here. At the same time, our show homes are giving prospective buyers a real sense of what living here could look like.”

Each home benefits from a private garden and off-road parking, while a mature woodland area is being retained and enhanced with a new footpath connection to St Andrews Road.
