Liverpool eco consultancy Carbon Happy World has been named as a finalist in the Isle of Man Global Innovation Challenge 2025.

Carbon Happy World offers greenhouse gas emissions management for a number of clients. It has developed a digital platform to collect and analyse carbon emissions data.

Its experts will calculate the carbon footprint of an organisation through a baseline year emissions audit, including supply chain, identifying the most carbon intensive activities. Then it formulates a net zero action plan.

Its platform was introduced to the Isle of Man by Ellanstone, a company focused on “attracting bold thinkers and transformative technologies” to the island. It was boosted bythe Isle of Man’s data stewardship corporate structure, developed by Digital Isle of Man.

The Innovation Challenge is a global competition that invites participants to present groundbreaking ideas that address real-world challenges and foster innovation in the Isle of Man. The 2025 challenge spans three sectors: finTech, cleantech, and data and AI.

Gary Adlen, chief executive of Carbon Happy World, said: “As the world searches for practical solutions to the climate crisis, the Isle of Man is showing that leadership is not about size or power.

“It is about courage, clarity, and the ability to reimagine what is possible through shared data and shared responsibility. We look forward to developing our plans into meaningful actions.”

Over the six-week contextualisation phase, Innovation Challenge finalists will refine their idea to address the island’s pressing challenges. Participants will gain insights into local needs through workshops, expert mentoring, and collaborative sessions.

This follows the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Isle of Man Government and Liverpool city region which opens new opportunities for collaboration in innovation, investment, and environmental progress.

Brendon Kenny, chief innovation officer of Ellanstone, added: “This is what happens when you join the dots. When public and private sectors work together, when data is used with purpose, and when innovation is aligned with real-world needs.”
