Liverpool Gin has gone onto the shelves of the World Duty Free tax and duty free stores in the departure lounge at Liverpool John Lennon Airport (LJLA).

This is the first time that this local hand-crafted premium organic gin, which is produced in limited batches at a site in Huyton, has been available for passengers to purchase before flying out of the airport.

Both World Duty Free and LJLA management are keen to work more closely with local companies and explore ways to help each other’s businesses.

Discussions over the sale of Liverpool Gin at the Airport began following the acquisition of the brand earlier this year by Huyton-based Halewood Wines & Spirits.

Agreement soon followed between one of the world’s leading travel retailers – World Duty Free, a Dufry company – and Halewood, to stock the famous Liverpool Gin on their shelves.

David Taylor, LJLA’s interim commercial manager, said, “It’s great to be able to showcase award-winning local products such as Liverpool Gin here at the airport and to offer the millions of passengers flying out from here the opportunity to purchase it as they pass through.

“This is a great example of how we want to support local businesses whilst helping each other at the same time.”
