Wirral bakery products manufacturer Baker & Baker has opened a new office in Poland as it looks to expand in Eastern Europe.

Based in Bromborough, Baker & Baker was formed from the sale of a division of a global bakery giant in April 2021. In April this year it reported its first full-year sales had hit £380m. This is 12% higher than its last year as part of US-based CSM Ingredients.

Opening this week, the new office in Warsaw will employ seven people. They will work across the firm’s logistics, sales and marketing function. It will be a hub for Bake & Baker’s central and Eastern Europe retail, wholesale and food service customers.

The new building will also feature a showroom with a small baking studio. This will provide opportunities for customer meetings and tasting sessions. Poland in particular has seen steady growth and new customer wins across the three key category segments.

Baker & Baker will continue to have a small number of employees based out of other Eastern European markets. These include Slovakia and Hungary. Bakery products for Eastern European markets will continue to be manufactured at sites in the UK, Germany and Portugal. And the business will retain its warehousing facilities in Poland.

This launch in Poland follows the opening of an office in Dubai in 20201. Ryan Perera, international sales director at Baker & Baker, said: “We’ve taken our time to ensure our new Polish office meets the geographical and functional needs of our employees and customers.

“The disruption caused by COVID-19 created a significant delay to the project, as we’ve had long-term aspirations to create a formal presence in Poland. We’re extremely pleased to get started.

“Our new office provides us with a hub in Eastern Europe. It ensures we are closer to our customers on a day-to-day basis and will allow us to take advantage of new customer and innovation opportunities.”
