Upmarket Liverpool mall Metquarter has undergone a successful reinvention in recent times overseen by owner Queensberry. Tony McDonough reports
Owners of the upmarket Liverpool mall Metquarter have appointed Avison Young as sole letting agent.
Located in Whitechapel in the city centre, Metquarter endured a trouble period following the opening of Liverpool ONE in 2008 which shifted the retail focus of the city. In recent times owner Queensberry has successfully re-energised the centre.
Now, as well as continuing to be home to a number of high-end retailers, the 150,000 sq ft centre is now home to LMA performing arts and digital campus, co-owned by pop star Robbie Williams, as well as the Everyman Cinema.
And, this spring, a new food hall showcasing independent operators will open, COVID restrictions permitting. Called GPO, in a nod to the site’s former use as Liverpool’s main post office, the facility will see the creation of 132 new jobs.
The opening of GPO will complete the redesign of Metquarter and will complement the varied offer bringing new life and activity to the remainder of the building. Metquarter houses a number of premium brands, including Hugo Boss, Cricket and Kids Cavern.
