Liverpool law firm MSB Solicitors’ family department scooped the award for Region Firm for the North at a gala dinner in London’s South Bank, attended by leading law firms from across the country.

The Family Law Awards were launched in 2010 in order to recognise the important work of family lawyers across the country and celebrate achievements and advances in the sector. It is the second time MSB have been nominated in this category.

MSB Solicitors was commended by judges, who were “particularly impressed with this winning firms submission, outlining the firms dedication to promoting diversity and career progression within its team”.

MSB was also recognised for its “excellent pro-bono and community initiatives and its commitment to the campaign for legal aid”.

The award is the latest in a string of achievements for MSB’s family team, which hosted a specialist conference in Liverpool last month in association with leading London-based chambers 4 Paper Buildings.

The conference was attended by law makers and leading authorities and discussed ways the law needs to adapt to better serve modern society. Indu Kumar, who was awarded Young Barrister of the Year at last night’s awards, was one of the expert speakers.

MSB were appointed to the International Child Abduction and Contact Panel by the Official Solicitors Office last year. They are currently the only North West firm to have made the panel.

It was also awarded best family firm at this year’s Liverpool Law Society Awards in May.

Family partner and soon-to-be managing partner at MSB, Emma Carey, said: “I am proud of the family team here at MSB every day, but today I am bursting at the seams. To say I am delighted with this award would be an understatement.

“It is something we have worked incredibly hard for and it has been a real collective effort. We have some outstanding solicitors who all share a vision to become leaders in the field of family law – and each and every member of my team goes above the parapet in order to do so.”
