North West Cancer Research is hosting a free will-writing clinic at its Liverpool city centre headquarters latest this month.

On Thursday, November 24, the charity will team up with national legacy and estates law firm, McClure Solicitors, for the session at the North West Cancer Research Centre in London Road.

All they ask for in return for the free consultations is that clients considers a donation to the charity.

The clinic includes:

  • Free will review. One in four wills are of poor quality and McClure Solicitors will review your will for no cost.
  • Free Will Service. Get your will professionally written free of charge, a service which can cost up to £240.
  • Half price Power of Attorney instructions. This includes a Welfare Power of Attorney free of charge.

Around 36% of people over the age of 55 in the UK do not have a valid will in place.

Andrew Robertson, managing director of McClure Solicitors, said: “Writing a will is one of those jobs that everyone means to get round to but tend to put off for one reason or another.

“At our free Will Clinic with North West Cancer Research we are giving people a chance to get proper advice and have a will professionally written free of charge.”

North West Cancer Research is the region’s biggest independent funder of cancer research and has committed to funding more than £13m worth of research over the next five years.

Jennifer Higgs, trusts and legacies officer at the charity, added: “Gifts in Wills are very important to North West Cancer and they support more than a third of funding for the life-saving cancer research projects we support.”
